| MINUSHEART have never sounded more complex. With their third studio
album “Calls From Space” the Aachen electro industrial band around
frontman DIVER present a first-class concept album.
Guitarist VARY,
this time being instrumental in elaborating the twelve album tracks,
ushers the typical MINUSHEART sound into a new era. As usual, the
electronic sound structure around DIVER’s memorable voice defines the
usual sound. Especially VARY’s varied use of guitars provides the songs
with a really unique feature.
“Calls From Space” impresses with
sophisticated arrangements, pleasantly minimalistically used electronic
far from smarmy approaches to overblown club sounds, and refrains which
get the audience hooked after listening to them over and over again.
Hence, MINUSHEART walk on ambitious territory sure as death where there
normally are only bands like NINE INCH NAILS, MARILYN MANSON or KMFDM.
“Calls
From Space” was produced by Ramón Creutzer who already worked on albums
by THE FAIR SEX, NO MORE and the LEGENDARY PINK DOTS back in the 1980s
and 1990s. Creutzer refines the MINUSHEART sound considerably which
makes it quite distinct from the usual scene mishmash.
