Somewhat undecided between a completely new album and a new compilation, place4tears mastermind tyves oben decided to simply combine the two and finish his 10-year-project at the same time. That’s how “Whales don’t cry for suicide u.p.” came about. A place4tears compilation album which consists of the typical sound backdrop, cover and remix versions of their last long player “The Silent Flame”. The musical spectrum ranges from darkwave/shoegaze and old school gothic rock to aggressive industrial parts that remind you of Nine Inch Nails. “Masterly” sharpened by Bruno Kramm, “Whales don’t cry for suicide u.p.” takes us on a journey coming from the frosty winter and spoils us with the right tunes for the warmer days that lie ahead. In on it: The Spiritual Bat, Sweet Sister Pain, Demoncast, Tragic Black, Mark Douglas (Vendemmian), Shadow Image, Sean Bowley, The Mescaline Babies, Reactive Black, Verney 1820, Daniel Colletti's Electric Bat Cave, Oberer Totpunkt, Manzana Oscura and of course a lot of place4tears.

"No, not really... such a "suicide" is something life just gives to you sometimes... I chose this title for two reasons: The first is very simple - you cannot write "Whales" without "Wales". And it was in Wales where I wrote over 95% of the tracks that are part of the "The Silent Flame - y fflam fudd" album. The second - which might further explain the title - is the fact that certain circumstances in my life forced me to take a different path with Place4Tears than I had originally intended. Many of my dear friends who added their very own interpretations of my original feelings and thoughts will certainly understand what I mean by this." In short: The "whales don't cry for suicide u.p." is a small smorgasbord from the past which received a refreshing new coat of paint in certain areas. Besides the still missing "field#4" (unreleased track from the "heavenly fields" era) and the classic "september's breath" it is good to see the "where the chosen get chosen" which had only been released on "the fog presents silence" sampler so far and a jazzy "hidden scream" from 2003. All in all utmost multifaceted Cold-Heavenly-Goth.
