"A dystopia is the idea of a society in a repressive and controlled state, often under the guise of being utopian. Examples of dystopias are characterized in books such as Brave New World and Nineteen Eighty-Four. Other examples include The Iron Heel, described by Erich Fromm as "the earliest of the modern Dystopian", and the religious dystopia of The Handmaid's Tale. Dystopian societies feature different kinds of repressive social control systems, and various forms of active and passive coercion."
DYSTOPIAN SOCIETY, the band from Florence (Italy) lines in with those Utopias not only with their band name, but they put their own vision of a dystopian society in shape on their debut album "Cages". Max Skam (Bass/Vocals), Sara Hexe (Guitar) and Mariglen (Drums) call their own music Positive Punk and the whole album they stay melodious, menacing and aggressive.
An oldschool-sound-tempest is released upon the listener from the first until the last second, without getting boring in any way. By listening through the album, band names such as Blood & Roses, UK Decay, Christian Death or even Dead Kennedys come to mind, quickly.
