After their debut album "Paper God" (2010) Paranoid Android
release in 2012 the follow up "No way out" on Echozone. In
contrast to its predecessor, which was concerned with the
glorification of money by humans, it deals with the maze of the
human soul that appears not to permit an easy way out from time
to time. Thanks god not everything on this planet is what it
seams and perception often deludes the spectator...
The sound of Paranoid Android turned more electronic and at the
same time contains more guitar. That seams like a contradiction
but is merely the concept of the unification of antagonisms to
present the listener new ways of musical creation. Within "No
way out" more and more elaborate guitar solos find their way
into the songs. The Influence of popular guitarists like Jimi
Hendrix, Thurston Moore, Kurt Cobain and Robert Smith on Guido
Vortex becomes more and more apparent.
The vocals of Guido Vortex have improved much further and he
gives the listener a strong impression of that he can sing in a
wide tonal and dynamical range with strong emotional expression.
The overall sound is somehow more electronic, underlining that
Paranoid Android is an electronic band project and that
electronic sounds are an as important mean of expression as the
guitar work is.
The educated listener will find it hard to categorize the music
of Paranoid Android. They have influences from gothic rock,
psychedelic rock, grunge, new wave and synthie pop but also from
modern electronica. Hence they are not a band of any of those
categories in particular.
But still they offer their fans their own category "Future New
Wave".
