"Synthetic Movement" - the title of German group CHROM's new
long player is quite programmatic. Thudding beats and bass-laden
sequencers are combined with recognizable melodies, driven by
the charismatic voice of singer Christian Marquis, resulting in
highly club-compatible futurepop anthems. CHROM's approach is
harder and more 'in your face' than your average synthpop outfit
and provides just the right kick for people that prefer anthemic
tunes with a focus on dance music. The lads also have a golden
touch for powerful songs with hit potential that stand up well
against some of the genre's absolute classics (rather fittingly,
if unintentionally, the group's name brings to mind one of these
classic club tunes). It is rare that the fusion of electronica,
club and pop works as well as on "Synthetic Movement" - an album
to imbibe, dance to and get carried away with. Join the
