Exhilaratingly heavy electronics from OG industrial godfather, Conrad Schnitzler, and Norwegian writer, art critic and noise artist, Bjørn Hatterrud. 'Hirschgebrüll' (trans: 'Stag Call') is constructed from each artist's detritus; files taken from CDs found in the bin and digital junk from the trash basket, mutually morphed and reassembled according to each artist's personal agenda. The results were then sent to Maja Ratkje whose mastering job evens out the differing approaches and lends some kind of esoteric yet visceral narrative. As the tacks are titled Parts 1-10 you'll probably never know who does what, but in interview Hatterud hints that "Conrad's tracks were etheric, with deep sounds, and a really three-dimensional feeling to them. Mine were harsher, more industrial and up-front. I didn't recognize my sounds in his finished tracks, he didn't recognize his sounds in mine". As a result the album oscillates broadly between the two aesthetics, from sublimely spatialized and haunted digital signals to asphyxiating, intensely powerful metallic shudders. F**king ace!
