From the author: "Since 2006, I've spent most of my time in Indonesia and South East
Asia, travelling to many of the islands in the world's largest Archipelago. During this
time, I was deeply immersed in a broad range of living traditions, religions and language,
and constantly surrounded by an incredible array of sounds and noises. On earlier travels, I
had already taken a mini-disc recorder with a simple condenser microphone to collect sounds
as an audio diary. After the decision to work with those recordings as a soundtrack, I
changed to a much better Originalkopf-Microphone (OKM II). These OKM's are placed on the
ears like headphones, allowing me to record in quite an inconspicuous and authentic manner.
To create a soundtrack-like atmosphere, I underlay the tracks using spherical synthesizer
pads and electronically edited drones from the field recordings. The album SAMA SADJA is the
result of this work and my personal and intimate soundtrack from the deepest heart of South
East Asia."
