For LAHANNYA standing still is a bit like dying. Just six months
after catapulting right into the heart of the European
alternative scene with her impressive debut "Shotgun Reality" in
2007, the blue-haired gothic icon released her follow-up EP.
With "Welcome to the Underground" LAHANNYA first introduced a
futuristic world set in a distopian Britain, reminiscent of a
modern version of George Orwell's "1984". As a reaction to the
increasing number of terror attacks and rising violence in the
cities, the UK transformed into a surveillance society where
only the adherence to strict rules allows you access. Privacy
has become a privilege of the past.
LAHANNYA's forthcoming second album "Defiance" delves further
into the world of the Underground. Misfits and nonconformists,
ostracised from this Brave New Britain have withdrawn into the
London Underground tunnels, creating a parallel society where
the law of 'survival of the fittest' once again applies.
"Defiance" traces the path of a resistance leader living with
the terrible knowledge of having created the technology that
made such extensive surveillance possible.
This stunning concept album is LAHANNYA's darkest and most
aggressive-sounding release to date, with both lyrics and music
reflecting the intensity of the emotions that shape the story.
Once again LAHANNYA is defying narrow genre definitions with her
explosive cocktail of industrial rock-infused plenty-of-metal
attitude and a sprinkling of pop appeal. Fans of LACUNA COIL and
MARILYN MANSON should definitely give "Defiance" a listen!
