I've been tossed this Fedaden CD to pore over and I'm bloody glad cos it's one of the finest "IDM" releases we've had in a while, barring Ol' Uncle Jega who probably helped define the oft teeth grindingly tedious term. 'Broader' opens with the French take on chunky melodic electronica, rich tapestries of electro synth, skittery beats, twinkly melodic shapes and ominous bass flows. There's some fine playful wonky/hip hop flavas 'n' soulful vocals on T2, Driving, atmospheric melodies & euphoric electro pop structures are contained within the blinding title track, Micro edits & looping topped with more addictive twinkly melodies on T4 and so on. You can tell they're French as I can hear flecks of everyone from Daft Punk (filtered low-end house) to M83 in the delicious, evocative chords & heavenly walls of electronic beauty throughout this album. It's a consistently satisfying & densely blended listen is 'Broader', bristling with some cracking tunes and an expert flow. CD only, highly recommended for electronica "heads" old & young...
