Kirlian Camera is one of those special music projects that will have connoisseurs raving on
about how good they are with glowing eyes, that manages to fuse sonic experiments,
club-compatibility, anthemic pathos and a wholly unique aura into a one-of-a-kind experience
and that has been able to span generations of fans.
A comprehensive retrospective of this Italian cult band was more than overdue, especially
since large parts of their older discography are now out of print and very hard to obtain.
On this long-awaited compilation titled "Odyssey Europa", Angelo Bergamini and Elena Alice
Fossi are not content with just looking back on their past, though, but cleverly build a
bridge to their current sound by including new recordings of their classic tunes, as well.
Thus, cult-hits, such as "Eclipse", "Heldenplatz" or "Erinnerung", all mandatory spins at
any decent underground club, are included both in their rare original versions and in new
interpretations that convey the full power of Kirlian Camera anno 2009.
The real fan will want to go for this classy 4-CD box set, though, that comes in a lavish
book-style hard cover with deluxe booklet and 2 posters and also includes selected rarities,
unreleased tracks and remixes on two more discs.
