The Cars’ 1984 studio album, Heartbeat City reissued as a 4CD+vinyl LP deluxe edition in October.

Featuring many hit singles, including ‘Drive’, ‘You Might Think’ and ‘Magic’, the album was produced by Robert John “Mutt” Lange and remains the band’s most commercially successful long-player.

This new deluxe edition is in Rhino’s now familiar large format deluxe packaging that combines CDs with vinyl. This is despite constant feedback from fans who do not like these ‘mixed media’ packages.

The content looks fairly good with two CDs of remixes, early and alternate versions and a disc featuring a full 1984 concert recorded in Houston. This is in addition to the standard album on CD 1 and on the vinyl (no word on remastering).
