Originally conceived as an “anti-album,” New To Reality was intended to challenge listeners with an almost abrasive intensity. Instead, upon its 2016 debut it arrived like a breath of fresh air for the EBM scene. Created almost entirely with hardware synthesizers the tracks were born from spontaneous live jam sessions, later edited and paired with vocals for a raw, unmistakably hard sound. Yet creator Carl Nilsson was never fully satisfied with the original mixes. Carl: “Earlier this year I revisited the old Logic sessions and imported the audio into Pro Tools,” Carl explains. “Remixing ‘Deep Inside’ revealed a clarity and depth I’d always imagined. That led me to remix the entire record—and then Human Rights as well.” The results are striking: both albums now boast greater detail, heavier low end, and a more commanding presence. Recorded during the same creative period with the same spontaneous hardware workflow, New To Reality and Human Rights can be experienced as companion pieces—now finally sounding exactly as Carl intended.
