Franky D, age 33 is the musical brain behind Darkmen. At the age
of 14, his interest for electronic music grew stronger and
stronger. His biggest influences were Depeche Mode, Acid & New
Beat, Front242, EBM,... These bands are still a big influence
for the Darkmen sound. In '88 he started experimenting with
cheap synthesizers and drum machines (like the Casio SK5, Boss
dr550,...). Together with Thomas, he created his first demo
tapes as The Belgian Beat Corporation...A few years later, after
earning some money new synthesizers were bought (and others
sold..)
By '96 he did a few live gigs as Analogue Fields (again a
musical collaboration with Thomas): a Trance/Techno style
experiment.
In 2000, Franky got more and more influenced by EBM and was
writing music which was more inspired by the old school EBM
sounds...In 2005 Darkmen was born! Franky composes the music and
takes care of the singing, Thomas plays the drums and takes care
of some backing-vocals.
At the moment Darkmen is recording their first official album on
the "MACHINERIES OF JOY"-label, as a sublabel of the
German-American record label "COP international".
We are very proud to have Sven Lauwers (Ionic Vision) as our
producer! With his years and years of experience, he is a real
asset for us to create the first Darkmen album!
