“Halleck” is the solo project of bassist from Rio de Janeiro (based in São Paulo) “Thiago Halleck”. “Thiago” became famous in the brazilian underground scene as part of important local post-punk/gothic bands such as “Gangue Morcego”, “1983” and “Das Projekt”. Furthermore, “Thiago” is also known for being a talented and sought-after tattoo artist, imprinting a unique style on his designs. The ten tracks on “Genesis” tell us a story, an overview of recent periods in “Thiago’s” life, including the sinister years under the sign of Covid. In its lyrics, “Thiago” reflects on change and how to abandon certain experiences in order to move forward (can be seen in the opening song “28 de Agosto”), but they also open up space for the tiredness of eternal ego fights, disappointments and touching goodbyes to those we love so much. All these feelings and experiences are woven together by the somewhat cursed poetic verve that “Halleck” gives us in his harmonious vocals. The lyricism of his songs is carried by noisy melodies of guitars and pulsating bass (a hallmark of “Halleck”), creating a dark horizon, but also danceable and engaging. The perfect soundtrack for dark and smoky clubs, whether in Berlin, New York, São Paulo or any other place with young dilettantes displaced in this increasingly obtuse and perspectiveless world.
