Gutenberg is the techno / industrial solo project of shouji sakurai. hailing from aichi, japan, gutenberg has the gift to turn clashing junk metal sounds, fat synthesized beats, fragile electronics and ambient drones into a dark all-encompassing circle of dense intoxication.
as a grandchild of the musique concrete style, sakurai gets lost in the intra-urban jungle and finds himself between the futuristic fizzing of neon tubes and inspiringly surreal bronze structures. it is intoxicating, arousing, confusing and disorienting, but he scours every noise and works every piece of metal percussion to arrange a comprehensive map of sounds. field recordings and disturbed energy are imaginatively sequenced & structured, layered with machine beats and a splash of sinister sensitivity. join the trip for a night, explore strange places and get drowned by a multi-layered ambience till sunrise.
escaping the maze until the bronze is unnecessary and reality becomes a dream.
