Room 1985 release their sophomore album The Bliss – a driving, electronic-post-rock concept work around social media addiction and the human condition.Room 1985 is the of trio Sam Stone, Chris Crysand and John Hulse, delivering a driving mix of post-rock electronica with an incredible psychedelic atmosphere. The band’s long-awaited debut album was released on the 28th of July 2017 to critical acclaim, leading the band into a series of high profile live dates around the UK. Following up their impressive debut, Room 1985 are set to release their sophomore album. Entitled The Bliss, this 8 track opus tells the tale of a couple living together but remaining separate due to the impersonal barriers to human communication placed on them via the phenomena of social media.Chris Crysand describes the album’s inspiration and concept: “The Bliss concept album starts with a story that is based on the addiction to social media and the impact this has to a couple living together. They ignore each other in real life while claiming to be happy in the virtual world – a common situation here in 2018. The story takes a stark turn as aliens invade Earth, conquering the planet and changing the whole basis of human society using social media to view individual worth rather than people’s actual characteristics and personality.Musically the album sits comfortably between the darkwave atmosphere and sound of the 80s, 90s metal and our signature electronic sounds. There are hints of our prog backgrounds here and there to.”The band are currently in the planning stages of an international tour to promote the album with an official launch gig at the AnalogueTrash vs Tilted Fiction mini-festival happening in Manchester on release day.
