Veterans of the IDM and Breakcore scene, the brothers John and Paul Healy, collectively known throughout the world as Somatic Responses, are still native residents of a small industrial mining community snugly located in the southwest region of Wales. They have been creating complex, distorted techno since the mid 90s, releasing on seminal labels such as Milwaukee's Dropbass Network or Lenny Dee's legendary New York City based label Industrial Strength. Unlike the break-heavy, jungle sounds of their contemporaries, Somatic Responses have remained more experimental, sounding closer to the acid-laced braindance outcrop of artists such as Autechre and Aphex Twin Unfettered by genre, RAAR005 drifts between strange, raucous IDM, singed electro and a sonic place newly charted and indescribable. A remix from The Exaltics gives a classic electro touch to the beautifully brutal Quktch.
