Grist shovels deep into macabre lucid psychedelia to draw out yet more of my contemporary socio-political concerns, and argues for an alternative, and an ending. From the ramifications of rabid totalitarian psychiatry, to State-condoned cannibalism in the DPRK and then down further into the cold, howling void of human weakness, depravity and archetypal nightmare, grinding at the gnawed roots of our individual and interpersonal responsibilities - and failures. A reluctant psychocartography; creating and delineating ordered boundaries in the face of bloody, remorseless consumption, and nihilistic Orwellian cynicism. Assorted readings from Solzhenitsyn inspired this album; I only wish I could (and could still) have assimilated his works with greater skill.
Don't enjoy it; don't slip and let yourself - I don't think that could be done if one retained soul. This is not wholesome, irreverent dance music to strut to and whirl with, and annihilate all sound being alongside. I hope you listen to it though, and dig.
If you spot any of the linguistic and numerical ciphers, well... it's a long old way back up again, most likely.
