While the core (and most of the tracks) of Nullvektor's fourth album is
made of club-friendly, heavy but catchy rhythmic noise material, there
is a clear progression in this release, starting from very pounding and
distorted beats (which reminded me more than once of MS Gentur's seminal
first album) then slowly integrating pads and melodic tones, to finally
culminate with a surprising and very daring full ballad, sung in
German. "Marathonmann" is most of the time a quite secure affait for
Nullvektor, but I appreciated that this musician wasn't afraid to get
out of his comfort zone and experiment with a few elements here and
there. It stays something which will appeal mostly to industrial fans,
but which also takes a few steps outside of this much threaded path.
