This new album by Steril first of all is the come-back of an ‘early’ 90s EBM band that got signed to Off Beat. Steril never gained the reputation of early label mates like Suicide Commando, Haujobb, Covenant ao although the band always stand for great EBM stuff. During their ‘later’ period they experienced with new elements like breakbeats, which resulted in the great, but less recognized opus “Purification”. After a last album (cf. “Realism”) released by Artoffact Records in 2006 it all looked like this band would never strike back.
“Misanthrop” marks their come back and I can already reveal this is a great, outstanding piece of EBM. This album has been released by the brand-new German label Frankahdafi Records, which is totally devoted to old-school EBM. Albums seem to be strictly limited to 242 (!) copies, which clearly indicate what this label stands for.
