Not having listened to the five digital albums that Siamgda released
since his debuts in 2010, I can not compare "Tremors" with the rest of
his discography. What can however be said about this first CD is that
there is more than a passing nod to Muslimgauze all throughout the 13
percussion-rich, distorted and tribal tracks presented here. Looped,
gritty, "ethnic", industrial-sounding and very headnod-inducing, Siamgda
takes a page out of Bryn Jones's textbook, with the exception of the
political and religious context. Had "Tremors" been released 20 years
ago, it might have been criticized for its lack of originality. Jones
has been dead for 15 years now, though, and as Muslimgauze re-issues and
rarities releases dry out, there is value in listening to what heirs
and fans such as Siamgda can come up with.
