BAK XIII are the dark electro/new wave powerhouse from
Switzerland, combining modern industrial production with classic
old-school EBM sequencing: 21st Century music with punk attitude
and a retro feel evidenced by song-titles like "80s Are Back
Forever" and "New Wave Party". In Europe, BAK XIII have toured
with such top names on the electro-industrial scene as SUICIDE
COMMANDO, FRONT 242 and DAS ICH, and have remixed or been
remixed by top artists like PSYCHE, HIV+ and THE NEON JUDGEMENT.
In 2008, Death Watch Asia invited BAK XIII programmer Baron Von
Smock to Japan to present his ambient-industrial solo project
MUSIC FOR THE SPACE live in Osaka, Kobe and Kyoto, and as guest
DJ for leading dark scene event 'Tokyo Dark Castle' in Shinjuku.
Now they are proud to present a world exclusive 'Greatest Hits
Collection' of BAK XIII celebrating the prolific musical career
of Switzerland's best-known electro-industrial act!
Originally formed in Geneva in 2001 as a duo by Baron Von Smock
and DDDmix (vocals, programming), since 2003 BAK XIII have
operated as a trio with guitarists Garf (2003-2006) and Tenebras
(2007-2009) adding metal riffs to the mix. During this period
they have also released a new studio album almost every year:
"In Cauda Venenum" (2003), "Post Lucem Tenebrae" (2004),
"Morituri Te Salutant" (2005), "Vae Victis" (2006) and "Ultima
Ratio Regum" (2008), plus the 2006 EP "Dead Again". "Best Of BAK
XIII" contains a massive 20 tracks from all five BAK XIII
albums, all personally selected by the band themselves!
Under exclusive license from BAK XIII's European label Urgence
Disk Records, DWA's "Best Of BAK XIII" comes with an eight-panel
folding insert detailing the entire recorded history of BAK
XIII, plus a four-panel insert with Japanese liner notes about
the band. Limited to 200 copies, this unique album is presented
in a six-panel digipak, with artwork specially commissioned for
this release!
