The seminal work on one of the most radical, influential, and harrowing bands in the history of contemporary music, Suicide, finally arrives in Spanish. Originally published in French and English in 2014, the acclaimed essay by musician and writer Pedro Peñas y Robles is now edited in Spanish by the Valencian label Industrial Complexx. Through a visceral and well-documented narrative, the book unravels the genesis and impact of the legendary duo formed by Alan Vega and Martin Rev. From the ashes of rock and roll, blues, and jazz—shredded through the filter of The Stooges and The Velvet Underground—Suicide invented a language of their own using primitive drum machines, distorted synthesizers, and howls of urban tension. The work explores the backdrop of gritty 1970s New York, the legendary and chaotic recording sessions for their 1977 debut album, and first-hand testimonies from scene figures such as Marc Hurtado (Étant Donnés). To accompany the launch, Industrial Complexx presents the double cassette tribute album SUICIDE: Tribute To Iconic New York Legends. A curated selection of international minimal synth, electro-punk, and industrial projects pays homage to Vega and Rev's indelible legacy, channeling the same abrasive, alienating, and futuristic energy that turned Suicide into an everlasting cult legend.
