The Hanover -based project enters year 2026 with its first full-length album. Behind the name SHV/ARZ stands Paula Schwarz, who took care of all compositions, lyrics, production, instruments and vocals on the debut "ZOGRASCOPE".
SHV/ARZ moves at the intersection of coldwave, darkwave and post-punk, where economical electronic lines do not function as a mere retro backdrop, but as a cold skeleton for urgent vocals and anxious images of the contemporary world. The album was previewed by the singles 'Dead Men's Machinery' and 'Counting Sand'. The first of them was described by the server WhiteLight//WhiteHeat as a combination of cool minimalist darkwave/coldwave elements with a strong gothic pathos.
The eleven-track collection does not only rely on club darkness, but also on lyrical straightforwardness. Titles like 'Alienation', 'Collapse', 'Agent Orange' or 'The Dream is Dead' already suggest that ZOGRASCOPE is heading towards images of alienation, social decay, war traumas and lost ideals.
The result is a debut that sounds austere and tight, but at the same time has enough melodic urgency for listeners of darker post-punk and the current coldwave scene.
