With “Kids Alone”, THE ULTIMATE DREAMERS crack open a new chapter from their “Paradoxical Sleep” universe - a 6-track EP that shifts between reckless adolescence, existential dread, and dark romanticism. At its core is the brand-new single version of “Kids Alone”, fully re-recorded in a spirited Neue Deutsche Welle / electropunk style. Teenagers throw a wild “Project X”–style house party while a playful nod to PINK FLOYD flickers beneath the chaos - somewhere between JOHN MAUS and FALCO on a sugar rush. The EP dives deeper with the extended, remastered “Spiritchaser”, a cold and introspective new wave piece echoing DEPECHE MODE and CLAN OF XYMOX, before collapsing into the haunting “Deafness”, a gothic/post-punk lament in the vein of PARADISE LOST and CHRISTIAN DEATH. Remixes expand the dream: AUX ANIMAUX injects “Kids Alone” with eerie darkwave intensity, MÄNGELEXEMPLAR reshapes “Spiritchaser” into a shadowy mechanical vision; and KINEX KINEX joins the band for a moving dark-folk reimagination of “Wegvliegen”. Produced, mixed and mastered by Len Lemeire, featuring lyrical contributions from Kelly O’Hara, and wrapped in striking artwork by Nicolas Crombez, “Kids Alone” captures the band at their most playful, poetic, and paradoxical - a spirit perfectly echoed in the accompanying video clip, creatively reimagined from the 1935 Betty Boop cartoon “Baby Be Good”.
