Parzival has members from Denmark and Russia and has been around
since 1992, first as Order of Parzival and with their current
name since 1997.
Zeitgeist/Noblesse Oblige is a double album, 21 songs filled
with grandiose hymns and lyrics in German, Latin and Russian.
The press release suggests the music as "Dark atmospheric
theatrical bombast in the same league as Laibach, but in a world
of their own". I have a problem in finding the last part in that
statement. The music is very similar to Laibach and the singer
does his best not to destroy that feeling with the muttering
chants that is heard throughout the whole album. You certainly
get the feeling that you're part of a mass of some sort which
could be very pleasant from time to time but with over 21 songs
I think they repeat themselves too much. The title track
"Zeigeist" and "Glⁿck" have very nice synth melodies and are my
favorites together with the (almost) instrumental tracks "Im
gottes mund" and "Gottes mund", the latter which could be part
of the brilliant soundtrack to "Conan the Barbarian". Probably
in the part where Thulsa Doom begins his transformation.
