Re-emerging from one’s own spiritual abyss with a jewel of truth for the
world is the final stage of a long initiatory journey. It is with “At
the Mystery’s End”, that TITHING (neé Tithe) steps forth into a new
beginning, not solely as a new entity, but at the end of a grandiose
evolution towards something greater. Eleven songs traverse the arcana of
the soul and explore the deeply poignant process of reawakening after a
long and stagnant nigredo. Wandering melodies and powerful
orchestration ebb and flow between S.P Haché’s complex finger-picking,
while his character baritone is joined by a myriad of voices to spin
occult tales with arcane allegory and surreptitious symbolism.
Each autobiographical song was conceived with a specific symbol set in
mind, informing the words, tonality, and even the instrumentation chosen
to sympathetically enhance the magic at work. What emerged is a
haunting dark folk balancing sumptuous bombast and subtle beauty,
extracting inspiration from World Serpent's glory days and the lush
largesse of 2000s post-industrial luminaries. Walking the path of the
Fool’s journey, Tithing has traversed the Abyss to transmute the ashes
of the past into a fresh vision of Spiritual gold.
