The first single from SPANKTHENUN... Mind Control released in 2019 was remixed by Claus Larsen of Leæther Strip (Klutæ and several other legendary projects). His remix would prove to rethink, rewrite, and set a course in a new direction for the fledgling band SPANKTHENUN. The first few tracks that SPANKTHENUN had cobbled together in 2019 didn't have a clear direction for style, and showcased many of their weaknesses as a new band writing and producing music for the first time. This remix and the interactions with Claus Larsen during the rework of this first track helped identify a missing element and helped the band find what made this song work. The original track was called Rotting Meat, and the 'mind control' part of the song was just a short, muffled little bridge in one part of the song. Claus quickly identified that the song was missing a chorus and that the original just kept building with no payoff. He asked if the band would mind him reworking it and putting in a chorus. He took the hook from the bridge and made that a vital part of the chorus, even singing the chorus himself on the original remix. The song, now more often referred to as Mind Control instead of its original title, Rotting Meat, is a key staple of the SPANKTHENUN live shows. Bringing the madness down for a bit and hypnotizing the audience with its repetitive beat. Over the last three years, the band has slowly changed how the song is sung and presented live. The band felt it was time to release a version now that more closely represents the live version. This is the remastered remix with all new vocals. The new artwork also rethinks the original artwork. Keeping with the same theme and colors but with the higher quality that comes with age and experience.
