Her debut EP "Pleiades" which was released at Swiss Dark Nights label, finds analog synths devotee Valeria following through in the blueprint of dark electropop and coldwave, offering a set of retro-futuristic middle tempo, gloomy and occasionally seductive danceable songs created with a tangible focus on the vocal melody. Velvet Velour isnÆt as complex and narcissistic as Grimes and has a more traditionally pretty voice than Emika, which helps distinguish the artist from the legions of noir-pop and retrowave acts. It's an intriguing listen from a promising singer - and a perfect soundtrack for dark and weird future we are alreadyblade-running in.
