In addition to working on side-projects and going through some tormented
moments, Brussels-based act LOVELORN DOLLS rise from their ashes again
like a phoenix and offer us a first and pretty noir appetiser to their
forthcoming 3rd album… “Lament” is probably the darkest and most
introspective song every written by the band!
And if we of course immediately recognize their typical “LOVELORN” type
of sound made of heavy guitar riffs, loud catchy melodies and up-paced
synth sequences, the overall atmosphere is dense almost claustrophobic
with Kristell’s voice adding a dramatic touch to it by mixing depressive
screams, spoken words and catchy choruses. It's these details that make
“Lament” an exploding cocktail blend spiced with THE GATHERING’s
darkness, DEPECHE MODE’s melodic touch and some ANNE CLARK melancholic
tonalities to crown it all. This song even gets the remix treatment
from ALIEN NATION who turned the song into a frontal dancefloor elektro
EBM anthem while ROOL reinforced the depressive touch of the album
through repetitive mechanical electro sequencing.
Fans will also enjoy 2 bonus remixes from the current “Japanese Robot
Invasion” album with “Miss Friday Night” remixed again by ALIEN NATION
while the sweet “Long Awaited Kiss” was turned into a delicious sugar
synth pop version by the talented act NEON VALLEY KVLT.
