Since forming in early 2004, Deviant UK has established itself as a fast-rising star of the European Industrial / Darkwave scene. With the agnostic anthem "Raptured Saints" and the hugely popular "Access Denied!" continuing to fill dancefloors throughout Europe, they now look set to stun the scene with their long awaited debut "Barbed Wire Star". Masterminded by singer, songwriter, frontman and would-be fascist dictator Jay Smith, they offer an arsenal of contemporary programming, soaring synthesisers, industrial percussion loops and cold vocals that coat each track in a layer of black ice with Smith's idiosyncratic song writing ensuring that each anthem is loaded with commercial hooks. Haunted by thesneering ghost of Gary Numan and the pseudo-gothic anthems of Project Pitchfork, there is real pop science seamlessly integrated into theindustrial machinery of Deviant UK. Far more powerful than synth pop and at times infinitely more melodic than EBM, Deviant UK menace, compel and thrill in equal toxic measures.
